I have checked each of them out personally and each is worth a visit. If a link has an ISDN rating, it means that if you have a slower connection, the wait may not be worth what's on the other side.

Books On-Line

If you could read only the books that get added here each day, you would be the fastest reader in the world. Search by Author, Subject, Title. You name it, if it's public domain, it's here. Save money on school books anyone??

The British Library

Changing on a regular basis, this site provides a look at some very rare documents like the Magna Carta (A la the AT&T commercials) as well as a virtual tour of the facility.

The Kitchen Nook

New cool recipe of the day. Several others on the page with an archive. Pointers to other recipe servers.

Library of Congress, HTML Specs.

This is the best source of info regarding HTML that I have seen so far. Specs for HTML 2.0 as well as the Specs-in-progress for HTML 3.0, CGI information, you name it, it's here.

Movienet

This site has the current show times (today!) for the chain of Goldwyn/Landmark theaters. In San Francisco, these are the Bridge, Clay, Lumiere, Opera Plaza, and Embarcadero theaters. A little slow, but better than wasting another newspaper.

On-Line TV Schedule

Do you need to know what is on the tube tonight? Search by time, station, or subject. Also, be SURE to check their list of TV Show Web Pages. Very complete!

Mandatory for anyone who works near or with computers. Nonstop laughs, plus a daily update of current (1 week delayed) comics.

Macintosh software that allows full duplex (talk and listen at the same time) phone-like conversations over the internet. Works on Macs from the IIsi on up!

Take your phone number and see what words you can make out of it. This is quick, fun, and may help you remember those numbers that make NO sense!
